Windows 10 is working very well and fast.You can update to windows 10. I have a MSI GE60 2PE Apache Pro, and have updated from windows 8.1 to windows 10 and have no problems at all with missing drivers.

If, on the other hand, you purchase a retail license for Win 10, then you can do a clean install from the "get go" because it will come with the necessary product ID code.

It's an inefficient and awkward process, but this is the only way that Microsoft has provided for users using the free Win 10 upgrade to do a clean install.
Your free upgrade to Win 10 will have been authenticated and linked to your notebook in the first step above and you will not be asked for a product ID code. Once this has been done, you can run the installer for Win 10 a second time from the installation media and do a full-on clean install. The only thing they can do now is to either restore Win 8.1 on their notebook and start over or purchase a retail copy of Win 10 which will contain a product ID code.Ģ - After you've successfully upgraded your notebook from Win 8.1 to Win 10 and authenticated it (a product ID code is NOT required when "upgrading" over an existing Win 7 or Win 8.1 installation), then you can create installation media with either a USB flash drive or a DVD-R/RW disc. And, since you don't receive a product ID code with the free upgrade, they wasted their free upgrade and were unable to use it. They jumped straight to a "clean" install and were unable to authenticate it because they lacked a product ID code for Win 10. Many folks have made the mistake of NOT reading and following Microsoft's instructions. Your computer needs to be authenticated to Win 10 and your free download of Win 10 needs to be linked to your notebook by Microsoft's server during the authentication process BEFORE you can do a clean install. When Win 10 support is available for the GE60 Apache Pro, the installation process should go as follows if you want to use the free upgrade from Microsoft:ġ - Upgrade your existing Win 8.1 to Win 10 without doing a "clean" install.

It doesn't matter whether you upgrade to Win 10 without a clean install or you install a "clean" copy of Win 10, without the proper drivers and utilities from MSI, your notebook will be flawed. Either wait for MSI to provide the needed drivers and utilities or choose a different MSI gaming notebook that already has Win 10 support. In my opinion, it would be unwise to jump to Win 10 now. This means that MSI does NOT yet support Win 10 on this notebook. When you click on "Driver" or "Utilities" you'll see a place where you select the version of Windows and you'll see that Windows 10 is NOT yet listed as of 1.
In your case, this means going to the download page on the MSI website for the GE60 Apache Pro here. Before moving to Win 10, you need to check to see if MSI has the drivers and utilities for the notebook.
